Range of group and one-on-one classes incorporating music theory, various instruments, languages, martial arts and embodiment.
Piano and organ lessons including theory
Included theory: solfège, harmony, polyphony, music forms. With special attention to physical exercises and breathing techniques, for helping relaxation and body awareness and for better music achievements. The goal of the lessons is to learn to play the instrument, to read the score and to play by heart. Next to interpretation of the music you will learn the skill of improvisation. It means to be able to express your emotions and musical ideas independently of existing scores. Theoretical skills are not treated separately but they are incorporated into the program of playing. Lessons are individual and designed to individual needs, levels and affinities. The goal is to be able to express yourself through your instrument, to be aware of your movements, emotions and thoughts, but also to learn analytically to listen to music and space. Process of learning is going on the passive and active level. This way of working brings you joy during the whole process of studying.
Chant
Gregorian chanting explores the musical history and language, through finding a common voice and tracing the natural history of things such a polyphonics, speech, religious songs and vocal techniques. The method is taught same as speech, which is incorporated with other sensory and movement aspects and forms. Chanting is also an element of translating music from instrument to embodiment, giving the student a multi sensory synesthétic experience of learning. This is also incorporated into orchestral, ensemble, multi instrumental and improvisational techniques.
Systema
Embodiment, movement, sensing the space around you, developing understanding on a physical and psychological level. Through physical contact the student takes on an embodied, experiential approach to learning. Through flow we learn to face any situation, bringing together play, breathing techniques, confrontations and self awareness.
Ensemble
Bringing together of these music and embodiment techniques into developing group work. An exercise in communication, mutuality, facilitation. Performance and creating a space in which one can perform.
